Another Rant
Today I made this mistake of interacting with society. To be exact, I went to the grocery store. What an eye opening experience.
First, you can't push a cart down the aisle without some idiot walking into you while staring at the "smart" phone and screaming into it.
Then there's the checkout. Mind you that I am going to sound like a jerk, and I am, but something is definitely wrong this the picture in my eyes.
In front of me are two carts of groceries. That term "groceries" is being used very, very loosely here.
There are pre-made cookies, chips, soda, gallon bottles of orange drink, six loaves of white bread, bottled water and other assorted junk foods filling the carts. No milk, orange juice, vegetables or other good foods.
Then the moment of triumph. They are paying with EBT (food stamps). When did all this stuff become staples of the human diet. This stuff isn't food. It's snacks. Are they living off of all snack food? What the hell.
Someone in the government has to change the system so that only real food is allowed. Both of these ladies clearly exceeded 300 pounds and the kids (who should have been in school) were overweight.
What happens next when they have diabetes and get really sick. Then what?
Where did the system go over the cliff? (The low road.)
I do not deny anyone assistance who really needs it. Senior citizen paying into Social Security all their life should receive all the help they can get. They paid their dues.
Maybe this points to the real problem. It's totally FUBAR and can't be fixed!
In that case. I'll just close my eyes tonight at bedtime and tomorrow this whole thing never, ever happened.
Am I the only one seeing this?
